MEET THE PUBLICAN • MARTIN PEET

No televisions.
No fruit machines.
Just good company.

Set within a restored 1900 Plough Shop with lofty oak-beamed ceilings on the historic Chester-to-London coaching road, Martin Peet created The Ecclian as an authentic village local — named in honour of the volunteer Ecclian Society who keep Eccleshall thriving.

Featured in Heart of Staffordshire CAMRA’s “Meet the Publican” series, Martin shaped 27 High Street around a simple rule: pull up a stool around our red-brick log burner, explore over 100 gins and whiskies alongside four rotating cask ales, bring in a local High Street takeaway if you’re hungry, and enjoy proper conversation.

“We don’t have a telly. You have to talk to everybody that’s in the pub. You can’t be in here and not have a conversation with the people sat around you. It’s a pub for people to share.”

Martin Peet, Publican
